The inscrutable school principal Michael Polly (David Morrissey) returns home one afternoon and discovers that his wife, Sarah, has disappeared. As hours pass, he reports her disappearance to Inspector Annie Cassidy (Eve Myles), a pragmatic and unyielding detective who is immediately puzzled by the principal’s apparent stoicism. As the case becomes complicated with the appearance of baffling evidence, Annie is assigned the role of liaison officer with the family.
