Intercepted 56 migrants arriving in four dinghies to Mallorca, Cabrera, and Formentera

56 migrants were intercepted this Saturday after reaching the coasts of the Balearic Islands aboard four small boats that arrived at the islands of Mallorca, Cabrera, and Formentera. According to the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands, at seven in the morning the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue located 12 people of Maghreb origin on the Cabrera coastline who had arrived by small boat. Shortly after, at 7:30 a.m., the armed institute intercepted another four Maghrebis who arrived on another boat in the Cala Galiota area, in the Colònia de Sant Jordi (Mallorca).

At 9:35 a.m., in Formentera, Civil Guard personnel located a boat three miles south of Formentera with 11 Maghrebis on board, and at ten in the morning they intercepted another 29 people, of sub-Saharan origin, on the coastline of the population center of Illetes, in Calvià (Mallorca), who had arrived aboard a boat.

According to data compiled from information provided by the Ministry of the Interior and the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands, so far this year 273 small boats with 5,079 migrants have arrived in the archipelago. In 2025, 401 boats with 7,321 people arrived at the islands, representing a 24.5% increase in migrants and nearly 15% more boats than in 2024.
