The Civil Guard is investigating the discovery of the bodies of an Irish couple aged 50 and 45 in a rented chalet in the Valencian town of Cullera (24,700 inhabitants, which increase to 150,000 in summer), whose lifeless bodies were found this Tuesday afternoon by their two minor children, according to sources from the armed institute.
The Judicial Police Homicide team of the Civil Guard has taken over the investigation, since, although at first it is not known what caused the deaths, there is “some indication that something strange might have happened,” according to the same sources.
The bodies “were naked and showed injuries that appeared to be stabbing wounds,” so the Civil Guard is investigating whether they died accidentally or could have suffered an assault, adds the newspaper Las Provincias, which broke the news.
The bodies of the couple were found by their children, aged 14 and 16, in the jacuzzi of the house, located in the Cap Blanc urbanization, one of the most exclusive residential areas of the tourist town and situated on the slope of the Faro mountain. After finding the bodies, the minors called for help from the owner of the chalet, where they were renting. The owner called the emergency number 112 to report the discovery.

A social worker and a psychologist from the City Council Social Services are attending to the teenagers, who are traumatized, do not speak Spanish, and have special needs. The two municipal employees have taken charge of them while the Civil Guard tries to locate the family of the deceased couple in Ireland.
The bodies of the couple were transferred late this Tuesday to the Valencia Institute of Legal Medicine, where an autopsy will be performed on them this Wednesday.
