The Libertarian National Party (PNL), led by Johannes Kaiser, the ultra who came in fourth place in the 2025 presidential election with 13.9% of the support, faces a new controversy in Chile, after a video surfaced this weekend showing one of its members, Ítalo Omegna, mocking children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with direct references to pedophilia. Omegna was a candidate for deputy in the last parliamentary elections and was currently the chief of staff for libertarian deputy Hans Marowski, the vice president of the political party.
The Children’s Ombudsman and the National Autism Federation (Fenaut) have announced that they are considering legal action against him. “As a society, we cannot continue to relativize discourses that trivialize child sexual abuse nor those that use autistic people as objects of ridicule or as part of narratives that legitimize violence,” Fenaut said on its social media.
A few hours after the controversy erupted over his statements, made in the context of a birthday party for a friend, Omagna resigned from his position as legislative advisor in the Chilean Congress, for which he earned 1,800,000 pesos (about 1,900 dollars). In a statement, deputy Marowski distanced himself from what his former advisor said: “No one speaks for me or for the Libertarian National Party, but those of us who have been called to do so.” Omagna has also been dismissed from the Mises Institute of the Southern Cone, a think tank that claims to promote classical liberalism, where he served as director of community relations since June 2025. That is, the position that manages the relationship with the community.
Omagna became known for participating in the political and libertarian-themed streaming program called La Cofradía, which has about 45,000 subscribers. In the video that sparked the controversy, Omegna appears with some friends at a celebration, where he gives a baby doll to one of the men. At this point, he makes highly violent comments about the adult’s taste for minors and gives him a jar of candy for children with ASD (“who are the ones who do not speak”).
Despite the controversy, Omegna remains in the Libertarian Party ranks. “We reject any attempt to attribute to the party statements or positions foreign to our institutional line,” the PNL said in a public statement, also indicating that “any inconsistency in the defense of our principles is subject to being claimed before our disciplinary bodies, a matter that, we warn, has already been fully activated.”
“Nothingness itself”
Johannes Kaiser, president of the ultra political formation, said it was a “bad taste joke”: “There are bad jokes, there are unacceptable jokes, there are jokes that occur in absolutely unacceptable contexts.” The former presidential candidate rejected that his party should continue offering explanations about the case. “We as a party do not take responsibility for statements of that caliber,” he said in a social media broadcast. The far-rightist said there have already been consequences for the case, referring to Omagna’s dismissal from Marowski’s team, and anticipated that, eventually, if party sanctions are appropriate, they will resolve it through the PNL Supreme Court. “Each person can think whatever they damn well please,” he added.
Axel Kaiser, libertarian ideologue and brother of the former presidential candidate, diverted the focus of the controversy: “The leftist media are so desperate with the PNL that they create a whole communication operation out of nothing. The same journalists who applauded [Manuel] Monsalve, the one accused of sexual harassment [by] Boric and instigated the entire attempted coup against [Sebastián] Piñera. They are disgusting,” he wrote on X.

The Libertarian National Party was founded in 2024 by Johannes Kaiser, when he was serving as deputy, along with other dissidents from the Republican Party, created by Kast. The politician left the Republican ranks three years earlier, in 2021, following messages in which he questioned women’s right to vote and attacked migrants.
Previously, on June 16, 2018, Kaiser spoke of awarding “a medal of honor” to rapists “of ugly women.”
Last year, the ultra ran in the presidential election and obtained 13.94% of the votes in the first round. His political formation won eight seats in the Chamber of Deputies and one in the Senate, won by Vanessa Kaiser, sister of Johannes and Axel.
As published this weekend by Diario Financiero, the senator is the wife of deputy Cristóbal Urriticoechea, the main promoter of the bill Listen to Your Heart, which seeks for women to hear the fetus’s heartbeat before aborting, in one of the three causes allowed in Chile. According to the Criteria survey released this Sunday, only one in five people agrees with the initiative, which, however, the Kast Government is willing to consider.
A week ago, the libertarian leader stated that they had the entire Kast Government “dancing to the music we play.” In an interview with the program Tolerancia Cero on CNN Chile, he said the Executive complied “with all issues, except, of course, those that are happening hand in hand with this catastrophe that the citizens are suffering; these are issues we have been pushing.”
