Jon Uriarte will continue as president of Athletic until 2030

Jon Uriarte will continue as president of Athletic Club until 2030, being the only member who has formalized his candidacy within the deadline that concluded this Saturday, after calling elections for May 8 on March 24. The Electoral Board has until next Thursday, April 23, at 6:00 p.m. to officially proclaim the validity of the list headed by Uriarte, completed by 19 other people, 13 men and 6 women.

Uriarte, 48 years old, will thus begin his second term as president of Athletic, a position he acceded to on June 24, 2022, after winning the elections against Iñaki Arechabaleta and Ricardo Barkala. This is the second occasion in Athletic’s history, since the first presidential elections were held in 1977, in which it is not necessary to go to the polls as there is only one candidate. The previous one was in 2015 when Josu Urrutia repeated in the position when, like Uriarte now, he also headed the only candidacy.
