More than 1.3 billion pesos are available in the compensation funds: how to check with the RUT if there is a balance

Cajas de Chile, the trade association that brings together the compensation funds of Chile, has launched a campaign this Tuesday for its members to check if they have credit balances in their accounts. The entity has confirmed that there are more than 1.3 billion pesos (1.40 million dollars) accumulated throughout the system, which can be withdrawn by workers or pensioners in a simple way. To find out if there is money available, users can carry out the procedure online and for this they only need to enter with the Rol Único Tributario (RUT), the unique identification number assigned to natural persons, companies, and entities in the South American country.

The seremi of Labor and Social Welfare of the Metropolitan Region, Natalie Leyton, has highlighted that there are thousands of users, mostly workers, who have credit balances and can withdraw them. “This initiative is very important because it allows social security to be brought closer to people in a concrete way. We are talking about resources that belong to more than 21,000 workers and pensioners, so our call is to consult, inform themselves, and exercise this right. As a Government, we want institutions to be increasingly accessible and for no person to fail to receive money that corresponds to them simply because they do not know it was available,” Leyton said.

How to check with the RUT if there is a credit balance

Members of the compensation funds who need to check if they have credit balances must enter the official website of Cajas de Chile. Upon entering, a banner will appear with the message Consulta Saldos a Favor. The page requests the RUT of the worker or pensioner to enter directly. In a few seconds, the site informs if there is money available for withdrawal and in which compensation fund it is located. For security reasons, the exact amount of money is not provided, although a link is given to start the refund process directly with the compensation fund.

What are credit balances in the compensation funds

Cajas de Chile has explained that credit balances are generated during the validity period of a social credit, either due to employer errors when calculating the payroll deduction, duplicate payment of installments, or other operational adjustments derived, for example, from renegotiation processes. According to information from the Superintendence of Social Security, as of July 2026 there are 1,371,026,621 pesos available under this concept in the compensation funds, belonging to 23,126 people or companies. Of the total, 21,491 correspond to workers or pensioners and 1,630 to companies.

How to withdraw the available money

Members must make the withdrawal directly with their compensation fund. In the procedure, it can be defined whether the refund is made in person or through a transfer to a bank account. For in-person withdrawal, the user must go with their identity card to the branch of their fund. There is also a special modality so that relatives of deceased members can obtain the resources.

Is the credit balance subject to prescription or is it inheritable?

The money available in the fund that can be refunded is always available, so it is a right that can be exercised at any time of the year. In addition, these balances are inheritable, so anyone can enter the search engine and check if a deceased relative has credit balances available.

What to do if the RUT does not show a credit balance

If the search engine does not return a positive result, it is because the member does not have amounts available to be returned. The member who believes they have these funds for refund but appears reflected on the official website should consult directly with their compensation fund.
