The joint security initiative between Mexico and the United States at the border to detect and neutralize drones is coming to an end. Operation High Eagle, which began on September 7 and concludes next Monday, has so far shot down four unmanned aircraft. The Secretary of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla, detailed this Friday that all interceptions have been carried out by the Government of Mexico on its side of the border. “They are drones without weapons, without explosive devices. They are used solely to monitor the routes used by immigrants,” he indicated. The last drone was located on U.S. territory, was detected by authorities, and returned to Tijuana, where it was intercepted and its operator detained.
