He studied English Philology, but jumped into surgery because of the passion with which a friend’s father described his operations. He had been operating for six years when he published the stories he had experienced. In the novel ‘Dirty Work’ he wrote about abortion as a conflict, while for the BBC he filmed stories of forensic experts and presented the series ‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor’. He has just published ‘Con vida’ (Salamandra publishing), a more human than biological portrait of the body, in which he writes more as a patient than as a surgeon.
