Participation in this Sunday’s Andalusian elections stands at 15.10% at 11:30, a level similar to that recorded in 2022, when it was 15.44%. According to data provided by the regional government, with 100% of the polling stations counted, 983,638 citizens have already cast their ballots, compared to 985,053 who had done so four years ago at the same time. More than 6.5 million people are called to exercise their right to vote in the May 17 election.

Only three provinces have experienced an increase in turnout compared to the previous elections: Huelva (1.02 percentage points more); Almería (0.17); and Cádiz (0.02). Jaén suffers the largest drop (1.33 percentage points); and the rest move in decreases of less than one percentage point: Córdoba (0.87); Granada (0.75); Málaga (0.59); and Sevilla (0.13).
Parties remain attentive to how participation evolves throughout the day. In 2022, turnout was 34.24% at 14:00; and 44.51% at 18:00. The final figure was 56.13%, one of the lowest recorded in regional elections. Then, the PP swept and achieved its first absolute majority in Andalusia, which on this May 17 aims to renew — polls indicate that the Popular Party has it within reach —.
This morning, the community president, Juan Manuel Moreno, encouraged citizens to go to the polling stations: “Today has arrived, May 17, a day that allows citizens to exercise one of the most important rights we have as free citizens: the right to vote,” he said.
This Sunday, at 11:30, the highest turnout percentage was recorded in Almería, where 16.68% of voters have already exercised their right to vote. They are followed, in this order, by the provinces of Córdoba (16.48%); Granada (16.07%); Jaén (15.64%); Málaga (15.03%); Sevilla (14.95%); Cádiz (13.58%); and, lastly, Huelva (13.24%).
