Seville April Fair Guide: dates, lighting ceremony, booths, Hell Street, bullfights

The Seville April Fair 2026 once again transforms the Los Remedios neighborhood into the epicenter of celebration, tradition, and Andalusian folklore. From April 21st, the Fairgrounds (Real de la Feria) will be filled with casetas, lanterns, sevillanas, and horses, in an edition marked by the short format and the festive Wednesday, ending on Sunday the 26th at 00:00 with fireworks. A week where daytime atmosphere, nightlife, and essential events like the alumbrao, the Calle del Infierno, or the final fireworks coexist.

Unlike other popular festivals, the date of its celebration depends on the lunar calendar, which sets Holy Week. This is the second year that the short format is resumed after the controversial 2024 referendum in which Sevillians were consulted on whether they wanted the Saturday-to-Saturday model – which was established in 2017 – or the traditional one.

This year, the main gate (portada) is dedicated to the Portugal pavilion of the 1929 Universal Exhibition, coinciding with the celebration of the 5th centenary of the Weddings between Emperor Charles V and Isabella of Portugal that took place in the Alcázar of Seville 500 years ago.

Seville April Fair Hours

The official start takes place at 00:00 on Tuesday with the traditional alumbrao of the Fair’s main gate and the thousands of lanterns that illuminate the Fairgrounds. But hours before, that is, on April 20th, Sevillians celebrate the traditional pescaíto Monday, when they go to the casetas to have dinner and wait for midnight.

The fair’s hours adapt to the preferences of attendees and their work obligations. The Fairgrounds open their doors at 12 noon, and the casetas can maintain bar service and musical performances until approximately three in the morning. However, in many private casetas, the celebration continues beyond that hour, already without music and with the curtains drawn. In the case of horses and carriages, their presence is limited to a specific time slot: they can circulate within the enclosure between 12:00 and 20:00. The closing of the casetas will take place on Sunday, April 26th, at 00:00.

To enjoy the fair without noise, the Seville City Council has enabled special days and hours for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 16:00 to 19:00, making the 2026 Fair more inclusive and accessible.

Fair Wednesday: Public Holiday

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, is a local public holiday in Seville. It is known as Miércoles de Feria (Fair Wednesday), a non-working day in the city that is part of the big week at the Fairgrounds, and which allows many Sevillians to enjoy the fair during the day, especially the horse parade and the atmosphere in the casetas before the busiest days.

Calle del Infierno: the April Fair’s great amusement park

The Calle del Infierno is the name traditionally given to the amusement park located next to the Fairgrounds. With an approximate area of 87,000 square meters, it brings together nearly 400 attractions and fair activities designed for all audiences, although it has especially become the favorite space for the little ones.

This year, in addition, the Calle del Infierno will once again have its own soundtrack, called ‘Canal Feria’, which will be managed and activated directly by those responsible for the attractions, thus reinforcing the immersive experience of the enclosure.

The 2026 Fair also presents novelties regarding the extension of one of its main streets, Pepe Luis Vázquez, initially to facilitate transit and evacuation. The City Council plans its reurbanization for next year so that vehicles – especially supply and cleaning vehicles – and animals can also access it.
