The Minister of Justice, Félix Bolaños, has come out in defense of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, against the corruption scandals that have plagued the PSOE in recent weeks. “The president is a person of integrity and, when he has become aware of any irregular behavior by anyone in the party, he has immediately shown them the door,” Bolaños defended in an interview on Cadena Cope. Investigations into the so-called Leire case continue to advance after some details of the summary became known, among them that the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard has asked the judge to request financial information from the Tax Agency and several banks regarding the PSOE and PSC in 2024 and 2025. Investigators thus want to delve into the accounts of some of those investigated in an alleged plot that sought to destabilize judicial cases against the Government and the PSOE, allegedly led by former socialist leader Santos Cerdán and coordinated by former militant Leire Díez and which, according to the UCO, would have been financed by the party.

Félix Bolaños criticizes corruption “even more if it’s in my party” and defends Sánchez: “The president is a person of integrity”
The Minister of Justice, Félix Bolaños, came out this Friday to defend the actions of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, against the corruption scandals that have plagued the PSOE in recent weeks. “The president is a person of integrity and, when he has become aware of any irregular behavior by anyone in the party, he has immediately shown them the door,” he stated in an interview on Cadena Cope.
Bolaños insisted on respect for justice and its timings. “One can have an opinion and, however, when there are solid indications, realize that they indeed have sufficient relevance for an investigation to take place,” he assured after being asked about the Leire Díez case, which investigates an alleged plot orchestrated by former PSOE members to torpedo judicial cases. “Corruption disgusts me, and it disgusts me even more if it’s in my party,” he concluded.
