A judge from Majadahonda (Madrid), Sergio Burguillo, has dismissed the complaint filed by Begoña Gómez against the far-right agitator Vito Zoppellari Quiles for harassing her while they were in a restaurant. “No facts of criminal relevance have been proven,” writes the magistrate in his ruling, which EL PAÍS has accessed, after reviewing the footage of the incident “that has been gathered so far.”
To close the matter, the judge notes the following in his writing: “[In the recordings] we can see how, indeed, the accused enters a public establishment, with the clear intention of addressing the complainant, directing numerous questions without waiting for answers, but the complainant leaves the premises immediately.” “The viewing provided to this court has not proven that there was any shaking or that the complainant was surrounded with an arm,” he adds.

The judge records that Begoña Gómez reported that Quiles “invaded her private sphere” when she was inside a restaurant in Las Rozas (Madrid), “aggressively questioning her about public matters in her capacity as the president’s wife and that he would have prevented her from leaving the premises while recording her.”
