The forest fire declared on the afternoon of this Sunday in the Marismillas area, within the Doñana National Park, and later updated to the La Algaida area, remains active but contained, with the head and tail already inactive, according to the Junta de Andalucía. The flames have been contained since last night and the fire has stopped spreading, while the Infoca Plan has kept nearly a hundred personnel working on the ground throughout the night.

The Andalusian government is investigating the origin of the fire and does not rule out intentionality, given the time and place where it started, as well as the succession of fires recorded in the area in recent days. On Sunday afternoon, a first fire declared in Doñana, in the area known as Corral de Félix, was already extinguished.
The acting Minister of the Presidency, Antonio Sanz, explained that the fire started around six in the afternoon in the area between Laguna Larga and the Membrillo surroundings, and that the quick reaction allowed mobilizing up to nine aerial resources initially, in addition to a large ground deployment. In total, up to 11 aircraft operated until nightfall.

At this time, the fire is contained between the dunes, the beach, and the marsh, with activity only on the left and right flanks. Weather forecasts, with a south wind component, allow confidence in a favorable evolution and that the fire can be stabilized early in the morning.
During the night, four fire trucks, two tractors with harrows for perimeter finishing, four BRICA brigades, five forest firefighter groups, operations technicians, and analysis and medical support units have remained working. The Junta has sent a message of calm and emphasized that there is no risk to El Rocío, which is far from the affected area.
