Jonathan Andic took 4 minutes and 34 seconds to make the first phone call after his father, Isak Andic, fell on the Montserrat mountain during a hike they took together on December 14, 2024. The founder of Mango fell from a height of nearly 100 meters and died instantly. Jonathan did not dial his father’s number and took almost five minutes to make the first call: it was to Isak Andic’s partner, Estefanía Knuth. Afterwards, he called the emergency number 112.
The sequence of events of that day, on which Isak Andic died at the age of 71, is recorded in an order issued by the judge of Martorell (Barcelona) who is handling the case. Father and son had arranged to talk, alone, and resolve conflicts of an economic nature. The hike had been proposed by Jonathan Andic, who had initially offered to do it the day before, Friday the 13th. But a work dinner caused them to cancel, and in the end, it was the founder of Mango who spontaneously suggested doing it the next day, according to sources in the case. Jonathan went to pick up his father and then they went together to the Collbató parking lot from where the Camí de les Feixades begins. They had barely walked a few hundred meters of the path when the fall occurred, exactly at 12:28 p.m.
The investigation is trying to clarify whether Isak Andic’s death was a mere mountain accident or a homicide, a crime for which his eldest son is now being investigated. One of the indications the judge considers are the contradictions in the two statements he gave as a witness. The order breaks down, for example, the reasons why Jonathan chose that place to talk: he said the route had been discovered by some friends and that he himself had done it four times. However, the license plate readers in Collbató indicate that Jonathan went there on three occasions during December: the 7th, the 10th, and finally, the 14th, “day of the fall.”
In his statement, Jonathan said he was three or four meters ahead of his father, that he heard a noise of rocks, and when he turned around, his father was no longer there. The judge emphasizes in her judicial writing that “at no time did he make a phone call to his father after the fall.” He reacted almost five minutes later, when he called Estefanía Knuth, in a conversation whose content is unknown. There is at least partial record of the call he immediately made to the emergency number 112 because they are registered.
Not a walk in 10 years
In his initial statements as a witness before the Mossos, Jonathan Andic said it was “usual” for him and his father to go hiking together. But the judge of Martorell (Barcelona) who is handling the case replies that the matter “was denied by the service staff of Mr. Isak Andic, who stated that they never went walking together,” according to the order, which collects various indications, and finally orders the call records of the eldest son’s mobile phone, which was supposedly stolen from him on a trip to Quito (Ecuador).

There is another factor that contradicts Jonathan’s version: the Mossos have analyzed the last ten years of conversations between father and son, recovered from the founder of Mango’s phone (he had it in his pocket when he fell). And they confirmed that there is no record of any reference to going out walking together. The only mention of a hike, in those communications, is the one that ended up materializing on Saturday, December 14 at noon, on the outing in which Andic fell off the cliff and died. The Mossos point to a possible homicide, while the defense maintains it was accidental and accuses the head of the investigation of fabricating evidence.
Change of dates
The judge’s writing also details how the hike to Montserrat was arranged. It was at the son’s initiative, who proposed it on December 9, 2024, “five days before the accident and not two weeks before” as he had stated, which the judge considers another “contradiction.” Sources in the investigation indicate that the day planned to walk the Camí de les Feixades was Friday, December 13, at 7:15 in the morning. “At that time in winter it is dark,” the judge states. Finally, after both canceled the meeting, it took place the next day, Saturday the 14th. Jonathan got up late, around 11, and told his father he was coming to pick him up in his private car.
That offer aroused the investigators’ suspicions. Isak Andic did not have a security service, but he did have a driver who sometimes drove him. The son offered to take Isak to the mountain, but not to bring him back home afterwards, for which he asked for the assistance of Estefanía Knuth, then the entrepreneur’s partner. “It also makes no sense that Mr. Jonathan asked Mr. Isak Andic’s partner to come pick him up, that Mr. Jonathan Andic would continue alone,” the judge emphasizes.
