The relationship between Jonathan Andic and Julia Lüderwaldt went beyond a normal relationship between a patient and his therapist. Investigated for the alleged homicide of his father, Mango founder Isak Andic, Jonathan was personally involved in the development of Lüderwaldt’s professional career, a woman who, without being part of any professional association or even registered as a psychotherapist, managed to infiltrate the homes of Catalan bourgeois families. According to sources close to the case consulted by EL PAÍS, Jonathan’s interest in helping Julia was what motivated his trip to Quito (Ecuador) in March 2025, which for investigators is one of the elements that incriminate him, as they reason that he did it to get rid of his mobile phone and thus erase the trail of compromising conversations with his father and other people.

On March 24, 2025, four months after his father’s death in the Montserrat mountain, Jonathan boarded a plane bound for Quito. It was, as the judge says and the defense admits, a “lightning” trip, as he returned to Barcelona barely two days later, on the 26th. According to sources familiar with the Andic case who spoke to this newspaper, Jonathan traveled alone to hold meetings about a publishing project of Julia’s that he had embarked on: publishing a book about the so-called “seven chronologies,” a method the therapist used with the Andics and other wealthy families, which lacks any scientific basis and divides life into seven stages, each with its approaches and challenges.
Jonathan Andic, the same sources emphasize, participated in meetings with a former Culture councilor who was going to be an “advisor” and “prologue writer” in the book edition, in which supposedly Julia, who has dual Ecuadorian and German nationality, was going to put all her knowledge about the “seven chronologies” into writing. According to Julia’s testimony as a witness before the judge in Martorell (Barcelona) investigating the case, the method bore fruit with the Andics. The woman cited as an example of those satisfactory results the fact that Jonathan managed to get married and have a child — born nine months after Isak Andic’s death in Montserrat — with the influencer Paula Nata.
Julia burst into the life of Catalonia’s richest family with the help of Isak Andic’s widow, Estefanía Knuth, who recommended her so that, among other things, father and son could resolve their conflicts. Their biographies have always been marked by tensions, but these became unbearable from 2015 onwards. Barely a year after leaving his son in charge of Mango, Isak realized that the company was at risk of sinking. So he abandoned his world trip on the sailboat Nirvana, returned to take the helm of the company and, in the process, sidelined his son, who was at least partly blamed for Mango’s crisis in results.
Knuth recommended Julia, who had already provided her services to well-known families such as the Urdangarin or the Sánchez Vicario, so that father and son could reconcile. Jonathan felt stuck in his life and even asked his father to leave him a “living inheritance” to start his own business projects; among others, a tailor shop. A notable fact in the investigation is that the therapist defended the eldest son’s claim before Isak and, when he resisted, threatened to abandon the therapy.

In an order, Judge Raquel Nieto mentioned, referring to Julia, the existence of “third parties” who “could have participated in the events.” Although she has only testified as a witness so far (she did so on June 30), that line of investigation has never been abandoned and, according to various sources, there is a possibility that the therapist will be considered a suspect in the case. One of the elements being analyzed is whether, given Jonathan’s involvement in the therapist’s projects, there are significant financial disbursements towards the woman. Sources close to the family maintain that the amounts are “not significant,” that they paid “about 200 or 300 euros per session” and that the eldest son cannot in any case be considered a kind of financier or patron of Julia’s activities.
There has also been a twist in the plot with the appearance of a key witness: a mountaineer and English teacher who helped the therapist in the search for places to carry out confrontation therapies in nature. In one of the messages Julia sent to the woman shortly before Isak Andic’s fall, she tasked her with finding ravines for a family, and told her that a “collaborator” of hers would accompany her, referring to Jonathan Andic. Defense sources assure that this location was sought for other patients of the therapist with a son having problems with his mother.
In July, the judge ordered the reconstruction of the trip to Quito, one of the seven clues against Jonathan, during which he allegedly lost his mobile phone (an iPhone 14), stolen in a square in the capital. Nieto, who wanted to know why he went there and what he did, asked the Mossos to find out the credit card expenses he incurred, the record of calls he made from that country, and whether he accessed a specific iPhone application that allows locating the device in case of loss. One of those reports, already completed by the Mossos, concludes that Jonathan traveled with the device to the Andean country.
