The UCO has asked the instructor of the Leire case to collect all bank movements of the PSOE in the years 2024 and 2025. Specifically, the Civil Guard requests these records in the parties’ accounts at Santander, BBVA, CaixaBank, Abanca, Unicaja, and Sabadell, as reported by SER and confirmed by this newspaper. The Civil Guard also requests that Judge Santiago Pedraz ask the Treasury for an exhaustive report on the bank accounts of the PSOE and the PSC.
In addition, the Civil Guard asks Santiago Pedraz to request “the commercial relationships” maintained by these parties with several companies allegedly involved in the plot, such as those of Grupo Crónica and Grupo IKI, which carried out work for the Catalan election campaign. This is stated in an official document from the Unit dated last Monday, to which EL PAÍS has had access.
In the document, the Civil Guard details that the Tax Agency be asked, for the years 2024 and 2025, for a long list of banking and financial information of the PSOE and the PSC. In addition, it requests information from others involved in the alleged plot, such as the aforementioned Zarrías, lawyers Ismael Oliver and Jacobo Teijelo, and from companies that appear in the investigations, such as Zaño Sociedad Consultores, belonging to the aforementioned Zarrías, Oliver’s law firm and a commercial entity, and Crónica Libre. Specifically, bank accounts, with their holders and authorized persons, and cash movements are requested, in addition to checks, investment funds, securities, insurance, urban and rural real estate, property transfers, mortgages, tax declarations, and a long etcetera.
From all of them, natural persons and legal entities, the UCO also wants the judge to ask the banks to provide “directly” to the Civil Guard unit “all information, movements, and balances held in their databases.”
The investigations led to identifying payments from the company Zaño to Leire Díez, whom it hired for 4,000 euros per month for four months. From the company Crónica Libre, the summary details that through it, the PSOE was able to pay “an amount close to 20,000 euros” to the journalist Patricia López, now deceased. The company owned the media outlet Crónica Libre, to which the investigation attributes the publication of information that contributed to the objectives of the plot, that is, to contribute to the destabilization of judicial cases affecting the Government and the PSOE.
