A 58-year-old worker dies crushed by a crane's shovel in Alcalá de Henares

A worker, approximately 58 years old, died this Friday after being crushed by the shovel of a crane during housing construction works in the Madrid town of Alcalá de Henares, as reported by Emergencias de la Comunidad de Madrid. Medical personnel could do nothing to save his life.

The events occurred around 9:25 AM, on a plot of land on Francisco Antón street, where members of Summa 112 were dispatched to attend to the victim. Upon their arrival at the scene, they could only confirm the death. The National Police has taken charge of the investigations into this case of workplace accident, to determine the causes that led to the crane’s bucket falling on the worker.

Just a week ago, another worker died in a workplace accident after being hit in the chest by the shovel of a backhoe while performing maintenance work in a tunnel on the C-5 Cercanías line. In mid-April, another employee lost his life in the Vicálvaro district, after hitting his head with a mechanical bull he was maneuvering.
