Barça basketball has finalized this Monday the incorporation of Tosan Evbuomwan, a 25-year-old British power forward who becomes the team’s ninth reinforcement for the 2026-27 season. The player, 2.03 meters tall and of Nigerian descent, has signed a two-year contract that will keep him linked to the club until June 30, 2028.

Born in Newcastle on February 16, 2001, Evbuomwan arrives at the Palau Blaugrana after a career forged entirely in the United States. Before turning professional, he spent four years at Princeton University, where he played 83 games between 2019 and 2023 and progressively improved his performance until he became a key player for the team in his final university season.

That performance opened the doors to the NBA for him in 2023, where he debuted with the Memphis Grizzlies before joining the Detroit Pistons. In total, he has played 50 games in the best league in the world, always as a rotation player, alternating his presence in the top competition with stints in the G League, the second tier of American basketball, where he has offered his best version.
With the Pistons’ affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, he averaged more than 15 points and 8 rebounds per game. He then moved to the Brooklyn Nets, a franchise with which he signed his best NBA season in the 2024-25 campaign, with figures close to 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 28 appearances. His New York stint was completed with a brief spell with the New York Knicks, while in the G League he strung together outstanding performances with several affiliates, including the Long Island Nets, the Westchester Knicks, and the Maine Celtics, always with averages exceeding 17 points per game.
His last stop before landing in Europe was the Charlotte Hornets organization, with whose affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, he had his most successful season. After solid numbers in the regular season, Evbuomwan raised his level even further in the final phase, reaching averages of 17.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, figures that earned him the championship and the designation of the final’s most valuable player.
The new Barça player is characterized by a physical and versatile profile, capable of playing both as a small forward and a power forward. His main virtues include the strength of his lower body, his ability to drive to the basket and finish with both hands, and a remarkable court vision for his size. Although he does not particularly stand out for his outside shooting, his three-point percentages, around 33% in the NBA and 32% in the G League, show that he is not an element to be ruled out on the perimeter.
With this addition, the Catalan team adds its ninth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Umoja Gibson, Josh Nebo, Olivier Nkamhoua, Justin Robinson, Olec Balcerowski, Agustín Ubal, Stanley Umude, and Tyrese Martin. This is an almost complete overhaul of the squad, driven by the new coach Aleksander Sekulic and awaiting Xevi Pujol to take the reins of the sports management, after yet another season, the third in a row, without lifting any titles.
The club’s stated objective is to regain competitiveness in the EuroLeague as soon as possible, a tournament it has not won since 2010, and Evbuomwan’s signing directly aims to strengthen the interior game for that challenge.
