Iran announced this Friday that the Strait of Hormuz will remain “fully open” until the end of the ceasefire with the United States next Wednesday, following the start of the truce in Lebanon.

“In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage of all merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open for the remainder of the ceasefire period, following the coordinated route already announced by the Port and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the social network X.
Donald Trump celebrated on his social network, Truth, that Iran had announced the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, he warned that the U.S. naval blockade on the Islamic Republic will remain “in full force” until, in his words, the transaction between both parties is “100% completed.” The president added in this regard that this process should move “very quickly” because most of the points of conflict separating the two countries “are already negotiated.”

Trump declared this Thursday that talks with Iran could resume this weekend and that he was willing to travel to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, to close the deal. The president announced a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, following “excellent” phone calls with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, whom he could receive “in the next four or five days” for talks at the White House.
