At least 14 dead and 27 injured in Russian attacks in the Kyiv region

At least 14 people have died and 27 have been injured in nighttime attacks by Russia on the Kyiv region, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, 14 people died and 27 were injured during the nighttime attack. All the injured are receiving the necessary medical assistance,” the agency reported through its social media.

Air raid alerts lasted for more than an hour throughout the capital, home to three million inhabitants, where the military administration reported that seven locations were hit in an attack that began shortly after midnight. “There may still be people under the rubble,” warned Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram. Among the injured is an ambulance driver and four people are in critical condition.

On Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have attacked logistics and supply centers in Kyiv and its surroundings, asserting they were used for military purposes. Klitschko said the attack caused fires in warehouses and on the outskirts of the city and that missile debris fell next to a residential building. The Kyiv military administration reported that the attack caused an ammonia leak that was being controlled by emergency teams.

Russia has intensified its attacks on Kyiv in recent weeks, with several bombings recorded over the past month. Ukraine also attacked a logistics center of the Russian e-commerce retailer Wildberries, adding to more than a dozen facilities recently damaged.
