Víctor Coyote was watching the eclipse yesterday, like much of Spain. He chose the city of Segovia to enjoy the event with some friends. Today, he went out for a bike ride; he did not return. He was found dead on the road, but the cause of death has not been disclosed. He was 68 years old and had “enviable health,” according to a source close to him. Tomorrow he had called a rehearsal in Madrid with his band to prepare for an imminent tour.
Founder of the band Los Coyotes and a pioneer of Latin rock and free verse of the Madrid Movida, the musician was also a comic book artist, music video director, and filmmaker. In early 2026 he released a compilation with his best solo tracks, El propio, and recovered a book of stories “based on real events” from the Madrid Movida, Cruce de perras.
