Alcaraz, who confirmed this Thursday that he will play the last Grand Slam of the season after missing Roland Garros and Wimbledon due to a wrist injury, will reappear for the first time since last April. The player from Murcia will also defend the title he won last year in the singles tournament against Jannik Sinner, who has withdrawn from the tournament due to a knee injury. Serena Williams, for her part, will return to the US Open at 44 years old for the first time since her retirement in 2022. The most successful female tennis player in history returned to the professional circuit in June to play several grass-court tour tournaments, including Wimbledon, after nearly four years away from the courts.
