The police prevented thousands of Ceutians from attacking migrants who have been camping for 26 days on El Trampolín beach, shouting “invaders, expulsion.” The possibility of using sports centers as reception centers, a measure that the Government has reversed, was the spark that ignited the neighbors’ protest. The Government maintains September 8 as the start date for the school year in Ceuta and assures that it will reinforce the security of the centers
The Ministry of Education has ratified that the school year will begin in Ceuta on September 8, as planned, for which the Government commits to providing the necessary “security and tranquility” to families so that their children can attend educational centers. The department led by Milagros Tolón explained in a statement that, among other measures, it has been agreed to reinforce police presence to guarantee security both in school transport and in access to educational centers.
The Ministry assured that, since the beginning of the Ceuta crisis, it offered the relevant authorities as many school centers as needed to house migrants, always thinking about the well-being of the children. The Ministry offered three school centers in Ceuta to house adolescent children, with the clear aim of protecting them and ensuring their well-being conditions, of which two were used: Reina Sofía and Príncipe Felipe.
Now, the two school centers used for housing migrants (Reina Sofía and Príncipe Felipe) have already been vacated and work is underway to condition and repair any possible damage that may have occurred, so that they will be in perfect condition for classes to be taught normally. In addition, the Government guarantees that teaching staff and management teams will be able to join their workplaces on Tuesday, September 1, as everything will be prepared for this purpose.
Protests take to the streets of Ceuta: “We live in four blocks”
With each passing hour, Ceuta’s collective anger, which it has been experiencing for 27 days, rises a little more. The initial indignation has given way to a rage that has found its perfect loudspeaker on social media, the Government as the target of attacks, and migrants as its easiest objective. Thousands of Ceutians took to the streets on Wednesday in a massive protest that began in front of the Government Delegation of Ceuta, shouting “invaders, expulsion” and “delegate, resignation,” in reference to the Government delegate. Dressed in Spanish flags and t-shirts that read “Ceuta is not for sale, Ceuta is defended,” it was one of the most multitudinous demonstrations since the entry 26 days ago of 80,000 emigrants, of whom between 7,000 and 10,000 remain in the autonomous city.

Torres appears today in Congress to explain his role as “single command” in Ceuta
The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, will appear this Thursday in an extraordinary session before the Joint National Security Commission of Congress to report on his role as head of the single command to manage the migratory crisis in Ceuta, with the aim of strengthening coordination between the different authorities and administrations involved.

The Government’s decision came on Tuesday after the extraordinary meeting of the National Security Council chaired by Pedro Sánchez following the entry of more than 80,000 migrants from Morocco into the autonomous city at the end of July. The new functional authority is accompanied by a collegiate body in which the Government of Ceuta, with its president, Juan Jesús Vivas; the Government Delegation; the National Intelligence Center (CNI); the Department of National Security and eleven ministries involved in managing the crisis will be represented. Aznar visits Ceuta today amid the crisis due to the massive entry of immigrants
Former Prime Minister José María Aznar will visit Ceuta today due to the crisis the autonomous city has been experiencing since the end of July after the massive entry of some 80,000 immigrants from the border with Morocco. Aznar is scheduled to meet at 12:45 with the president of the autonomous city, Juan Vivas, and with members of his Government at the Assembly headquarters and will also sign the city’s book of honor, in the Noble Mayor’s Office, as specified by FAES. Finally, the former president will participate in an institutional act in the Throne Room with Vivas, where both are expected to deliver “a few words.”
The foundation directed by former president Aznar criticized Pedro Sánchez’s Government for its inability to manage the migratory crisis and also accused it of not having foreseen the “pull effect” caused by the Supreme Court (TS) ruling, which prohibits hot returns, with a reinforcement of control devices at the border with Morocco. In a statement released on July 31, FAES denounced that the main problem in this crisis is the Government’s “wavering attitude,” diagnosing that with the Executive presided over by Pedro Sánchez, the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla “have been literally abandoned.”

The battle for spaces to house migrants prolongs the Ceuta crisis
The central problem of the Ceuta crisis is becoming increasingly evident. The Government is looking for spaces to house immigrants as quickly as possible, in order to accelerate affiliations and, therefore, returns. But the easiest spaces, which already have bathrooms and sewage, such as sports centers and other similar locations in inhabited areas, are systematically rejected by the city, led by the popular Juan Jesús Vivas. The veteran Ceutian leader even threatened this Tuesday to lock himself in the sports centers and encourage people to do so if Pedro Sánchez’s Executive tried to use them. “If they want to use the sports centers, I’m going to lock myself in there, and anyone who wants to come with me,” he said.

The endless war between Marlaska and Robles
