Specifically, the flames originated in a fifth-floor apartment of a seven-story building, although for the moment it is not possible to specify the causes or in which room of the apartment, where a tenant was sleeping and was evacuated by the emergency services.

Upon the arrival of the Community of Madrid Firefighters, the fire was “very widespread and breaking through the facade through the two balconies of the house, there was a lot of fire load,” describes the spokesperson.

The emergency services began to tackle the fire in two ways: with a ladder from the outside and with teams from the inside. Initially, the residents of the adjacent apartment and those on the upper floors were confined to their homes, but the firefighters ended up evacuating two people from one apartment and another person from a different apartment.

In total, Summa 112 attended to eight people for smoke inhalation, none serious, although three of whom were transferred to the hospital as potentially serious, meaning they had inhaled a lot of smoke and needed further assessment. The other five were discharged at the scene. Two of the residents were taken to La Paz hospital in Madrid and another, the tenant of the home affected by the flames, to Ramón y Cajal in the capital.

Seven crews and two commanders worked on the extinction. Tres Cantos Civil Protection, Local Police, Guardia Civil, and National Police also collaborated in attending to this incident.
