The streets of the capital will once again be the setting for the Mexico City Marathon in the 43rd edition of the competition, which will take place on August 30. The sporting event will bring together 30,000 runners from the country and around the world, who will cover the 42.195 kilometers of a route certified and approved by the Mexican Federation of Athletics Associations (FMAA), the International Association of Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), and World Athletics.
Date and time
The Mexico City Marathon will take place on August 30. Runners will have a staggered start time: the first group corresponds to participants in wheelchairs and visually impaired, scheduled for 5:45, followed by the Elite Women group at 5:50 and the Elite Men at 6:00. From then on, runners will be distributed into three groups: A, from 6:00; B, from 6:15; and C, from 6:30.
Start
The starting point will be at Ciudad Universitaria, between the Central Library and the Olympic Stadium of UNAM.
Route
The route begins on Insurgentes Sur Avenue and continues to the Insurgentes Roundabout. From there, runners will cross the Roma and Condesa neighborhoods, then pass through a section of Chapultepec Forest and Polanco. In the last kilometers, the route passes through some of the most emblematic points of the capital until reaching the finish line, located at the Zócalo.

Closed streets
Because the route crosses several major avenues, some roads will be closed to vehicular traffic at different points in the city during the competition. The closed streets are:
- Insurgentes Sur Avenue (Olympic Stadium – Insurgentes Roundabout)
- Oaxaca Avenue
- Nuevo León Avenue
- Sonora Avenue
- Chapultepec Avenue
- Florencia Street
- Paseo de la Reforma (both directions)
- Julio Verne Street
- Presidente Masaryk
- Moliére
- Ejército Nacional Avenue
- Thiers Street
- Darwin Street
- Rubén Darío Street
- Juárez Avenue
- Simón Bolívar Street
- República del Salvador Street
- 20 de Noviembre Street
- Plaza and Avenida de la República
Among the main alternatives to avoid the affected areas are División del Norte, Tlalpan, Eje 3 Oriente, Periférico, Aztecas, Río Churubusco, Viaducto Miguel Alemán, Legaria, Marina Nacional, and Circuito Interior avenues.
Public transport
Lines 1, 2, 3, and 9 of the Mexico City metro will be open from 5:00 a.m. so that runners can travel for free to the starting point by showing their runner number. Meanwhile, the Metrobús service will experience some disruptions on lines 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7.
