A 49-year-old man was injured this Saturday, according to several witnesses, after an accident on the Batman Gotham City Escape roller coaster at Parque Warner in Madrid. An emergency helicopter was dispatched to the site and transported him to the 12 de Octubre hospital, while park staff evacuated visitors from the area and closed the shops and restaurants in the zone. The injured man’s condition is “potentially serious,” with an open fracture in his left leg.

The incident caused moments of tension among visitors to Parque Warner. Juan José Molina, who was at the park this Saturday, says he saw the helicopter arrive to evacuate the injured man. “There were people crying and having anxiety attacks, filing complaints,” he recounts. According to his testimony, the event occurred around 2:30 p.m.
Diana B., 27 years old, was in the queue for Batman Gotham City Escape at that moment and says she was going to ride the roller coaster in the next turn. According to her account, the injured man slipped out of his seat during the ride and was partially trapped in the car. “He kept swinging on the attraction until his leg broke,” she explains. The young woman states that the passenger ended up caught between two seats, head down, before the roller coaster could stop.
Juan Diego Quiñónez Pérez, 15 years old, also witnessed the accident and says he is still in shock over what happened. “The man was hanging and hitting against the car,” he recounts. The teenager also criticizes the subsequent management of the incident and says visitors were evacuated from the area without receiving explanations about what had just happened.
Batman Gotham City Escape was inaugurated in 2023 and is considered Spain’s first multi-launch roller coaster. The attraction reaches speeds over 100 kilometers per hour and a maximum height of 45 meters.

Activity in the rest of the park, however, has continued almost normally. Two hours after the accident, the other attractions are still operating, while Batman Gotham City Escape remains closed. Several Civil Guard and Local Police vehicles remain deployed at the park entrance.
Shortly before six in the evening, several dozen onlookers gathered at the entrance of Gotham City Escape. Some, unaware of what had happened a few hours earlier, wondered why access to the roller coaster was not allowed. In the park app, the attraction still appeared as open, although, unlike the others, it showed no wait time.
Behind the barriers, however, the roller coaster is not completely stopped. The rattling of the cars can still be heard as they speed along the tracks. Every so often, the seats reappear empty before the visitors watching from outside, in what seems to be operational tests of an attraction that, hours after the accident, remains closed to the public.
