A 63-year-old woman drowns during heavy rains in Felanitx (Mallorca)

A 63-year-old woman has drowned this Wednesday in Felanitx during the episode of heavy rains that affected Mallorca. The main hypothesis is that the victim slipped or tripped when leaving her house to go to work due to the conditions caused by the rain and drowned, although the exact circumstances of the death are yet to be determined, according to sources from the Civil Guard.

The SAMU 061 and municipal sources have reported that the incident took place around 3:00 PM on Bellpuig street. Several people called emergency services to alert that there was a woman lying on the ground in cardiorespiratory arrest. Witnesses performed the first cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of 061 and a local doctor, who continued them. However, they could do nothing to save her life and could only confirm her death.

The armed institute has activated the judicial protocol and the Territorial Judicial Police Team from the Manacor post has moved to the scene to investigate the incident. The Felanitx City Council, which has confirmed the death of its neighbor during the downpour episode, has extended its condolences to the victim’s family.

The death of this Felanitx resident occurs on a day marked by torrential rains and strong gusts of wind that have caused numerous incidents in different parts of Mallorca, mostly due to fallen trees and floods. In fact, the City Council has decided to suspend all events of the Cas Concos local festivities scheduled for this Wednesday.
