The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Tuesday that the State will allocate 234 million euros to train adults in positions where there is a shortage of qualified labor. Sánchez made this announcement after attending with the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, the event La Formación Profesional: el impulso de un país, at the School of Industrial Organization, linked to the Ministry of Industry.

From this allocation, Education will distribute 107 million among the autonomous communities so that public centers that offer Vocational Training include in their catalog these trainings specially designed for workers. And the other 127 million will serve for the ministry to launch four calls focused on hospitality, tourism, construction, and the vulnerable population.

Part of the offered places ―the total number is still unknown― will be funded with the 150 million allocation announced by Sánchez within the Integration and Citizenship Plan to train 100,000 regularized migrants.

“This reinforcement responds to a reality: we have more than 22.5 million people affiliated with Social Security, more than 10 million are women,” said the president. And he added: “We are creating half of all new employment in the European Union, but we continue to hear from many professionals and companies who tell us that we need to hire, but they can’t find anyone. And that is where Vocational Training must be, in education for an intellectual training of the students. That is betting on Vocational Training, this is to prestige Vocational Training.”
