A man has died this Saturday in the fire declared in the Salt de l’Aigua ravine in the Valencian town of Manises. The Town Council has confirmed the death in a message on social media: “Unfortunately, the fire has claimed the life of 1 person. The Manises Town Council decrees two days of official mourning, tomorrow and Monday”.

According to several reports, the deceased, an elderly person, had tried to cross the ravine in his car, which appeared burned. The fire, which has mainly devastated scrubland and generated intense smoke visible from Valencia (14 kilometers away), has been declared stabilized.

Five people have been taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and burns as a result of the fire, according to the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU). Three have already been discharged and two remain under observation, according to the same sources.
Two aerial units and nine fire brigades have worked to extinguish this fire, declared around 12:45 p.m. in a vegetation area of the Salt de l’Aigua ravine in Manises (Valencia), according to the Provincial Fire Consortium of Valencia.
Six fire brigades, two BRIFO units, a sergeant, a forest coordinator, and an official from the Consortium have been dispatched to the fire site. In addition, a unit of forest firefighters and two aerial units from the Generalitat have also attended. In total, three Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances and two Urgent Transport ambulances have been moved to the fire site, according to the CICU.
