A video taken with a 360-degree camera managed to capture Julio César Jasso Ramírez seconds before the shooting began from the top of the Pyramid of the Moon in the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán, where he killed one tourist and injured seven more with bullets, plus six who fell down the stairs. The images show him reaching the end of the stairs, walking through the crowd until he positions himself on one of the edges of the first level of the building. There he crouches down and begins to rummage through his backpack, while visitors around him continue to contemplate the view and take photos. Less than two minutes later, the first shots are heard.

Some of the tourists managed to run down the stairs, while a group remained trapped as hostages in the pyramid. Jasso fired up to 14 times before being subdued by security forces, who shot him in the leg. Before they could stop him, the shooter used his own weapon to commit suicide. The family has already claimed his body and authorities delivered it this Thursday morning, three days after the shooting.
