The center’s AMPA (Parents’ Association) detailed in a press release that the man identified himself as a student’s grandfather and tried to pick up the minor, but when the teacher refused because his name was not registered, “he reacted violently” and assaulted the teacher.

The man, in reality, is the mother’s partner, but the teacher did not hand over the child until she had clear authorization. Seeing that the individual “became nervous,” the center decided to call the Local Police, thus activating the protocol for aggression against teaching staff and the Violence Prevention and Coexistence Promotion Plan (PREVI), according to the same sources.

Sources from Education specified, in response to questions from EFE, that the teacher has a scratch after the assault. The educational community of the center held a concentration this Thursday at the school gates before the start of the school day to show their rejection of this aggression.

In a statement, the parents’ association expressed its “most emphatic condemnation” of any act of violence in the educational sphere and conveyed its support to the teacher, considering that she acted in the exercise of her duties of protection and custody of the students. The AMPA defended that educational centers must be “safe, respectful, and exemplary” spaces for the entire school community, and demanded respect for teaching staff.

For its part, the Alcoi City Council has expressed its condemnation of any aggression and violent acts, especially against teachers.
