Alejandro Burillo, an important businessman and influential football executive in Mexico, has died at the age of 74. The news came this Thursday from Fernando Schwartz, Strategic Communications Director of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), who lamented the passing. “El Güero was a great guide. A friend and boss at heart with whom we experienced great stories on TV and football,” he wrote on his social media. Burillo, a man very close to Emilio Azcárraga, was about to complete the sale of Chivas to Televisa in the 1990s. He was also the person who opened the doors for Javier Aguirre, current coach of the Mexican National Team, in his first stint leading El Tri in 2001.
