A device of about 600 Mossos d’Esquadra officers was activated last night to dismantle a drug trafficking gang dedicated to indoor marijuana cultivation, in an operation in which raids and searches are being carried out in properties located in a dozen municipalities in Girona.

According to sources from the Generalitat Police, in addition to the cultivation and distribution of narcotic substances, the group is also linked to crimes of possession of weapons and money laundering.
The raids and searches are being carried out in the towns of Girona, Salt, Riudarenes, Cassà de la Selva, l’Escala, Sils, Caldes de Malavella, Brunyola, Llagostera, Bescanó, Celrà and Quart.

The operation, led by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), also includes agents from the Special Intervention Group (GEI), Mobile Brigade (BRIMO), Regional Operational Resources Area (ARRO), Scientific Police, Canine Unit, Air Means, Central Room and Citizen Security Unit.
The case is under secrecy of proceedings.
