A man has been arrested by the National Police as the alleged perpetrator of a burglary at a barbershop in the Madrid town of Fuenlabrada, which he had entered by breaking the display window with a strong blow using a manhole cover, before fleeing through the streets of the city until taking shelter under a van.

This is known as the rudimentary manhole cover method: the alleged perpetrator broke the display window with a manhole cover that officers found lying on the sidewalk outside the establishment, whose lock was also forced, according to the National Police.
The events occurred in the early hours of August 5. A man with a furtive attitude carrying a torn plastic bag alerted the officers, who asked for his identification. At that moment, he began to flee and a foot chase ensued. While running, the man threw several black clothing items to hinder his identification and threw the bag he was carrying, until he hid under a van parked on the street.
The officers located all the items the detainee had thrown while running, and found inside the bag some money, a laptop, various hair care items ―creams and several hair clippers― as well as a pair of black socks used in the commission of the robbery. The man was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a burglary and was later handed over to the judicial authority.
