The Compromís-Sumar deputy, Alberto Ibáñez, has submitted a question to the Government in the Congress of Deputies this Tuesday about the deployment in Valencia “of fascist squads, such as the self-called Night Angels, who dressed in dark clothing and reflective bands” try to pass themselves off as groups of neighbors who monitor possible insecurity situations” in neighborhoods of the city such as Malva-rosa.
The initiative points out that these groups are “in reality, perfectly orchestrated fascist groups dedicated to intimidating immigrant people, mainly Arabs, with the aim of stirring the rumor of growing insecurity before the eyes of residents and passersby,” with clothing that resembles official uniforms, states the document submitted for registration.
“It is surprising the impunity with which they deploy without encountering the forcefulness with which we see the State Security Forces and Corps act against protesters for education or trade unionists, since their very existence questions the good police work,” the initiative states referring to the recently notified sanctions by the Police to some strikers during the educational strike and the mobilizations that took place in the Valencian Community between last May and June.
Ibáñez asks about the measures adopted by the Ministry of the Interior to prevent these violent groups and whether the State Security Forces and Corps (FCSE) have undercover agents in them or in organizations that support and cover both hate speech and those that promote civil confrontation. The parliamentarian also questions the police tolerance with these squads “when these very ones imply questioning the FCSE themselves” and asks if they have been sanctioned.
In the area where the “Night Angels” patrol, in the maritime district of Valencia, minor crimes have decreased by 22%, warns the parliamentary initiative. The existence of these groups, the document points out, questions “the model of justice and use of force of a democratic State,” adds Ibáñez after considering that the patrols aim to generate a model of administering supposed justice parallel to the democratic one and without the democratic control that can be exercised before the institutions“.

The parliamentarian directly questions the Interior and the various delegations and sub-delegations of the Government, “since it depends on them that compliance with the law is equal, as well as the necessary democratization of institutions in their actions,” he points out.
According to the deputy, “the excuse that has been given in the media for not acting is that these groups have not yet committed any illegality, when the reality is that their very existence implies that a group of people in an organized way acts as a threat, generating a climate of violence and insecurity in public spaces.”
On the other hand, the initiative points out that the use of uniforms that can be misleading with those of the FCSE is already classified as a serious offense in article 36.14 of the Organic Law on the protection of citizen security.
