As emphasized in the document by the company itself, participation in the program will be “strictly voluntary for workers who meet the established requirements,” with exit conditions similar to those applied in previous years.
In 2020, Endesa agreed with the unions on the progressive exit of 1,200 workers over four years. That year, the employment adjustment plan was based on early retirements and was open to workers who were at most 15 years from retirement.
At that time, the compensation offered by the company reached a maximum of 80% of the computable salary for those workers who had five years left until retirement. Those who accepted the plan between five and nine years before retirement received 75% of the salary; from nine to twelve years, 70% of the salary; and from twelve to fifteen years, 60%. The listed company has already communicated to the legal representation of the workers its intentions to carry out this new staff reduction.

The implementation of this new staff reduction program will entail the accounting recognition of a provision, with an estimated non-recurring gross impact of approximately 208 million euros on the consolidated result for the 2026 fiscal year. “This impact will have no effect on the shareholder remuneration policy corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year,” Endesa notes.
The energy company has specified that the staff reduction is part of the simplification of the company’s structure contemplated in its 2026-2028 Strategic Plan. According to Endesa itself on its website, the company has about 9,000 workers. In the first half of this year, its profits grew by 41% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1,470 million euros.
