The former president of La Caixa Josep Vilarasau (Barcelona, 1931) passed away this Tuesday at the age of 95, according to sources from the entity. Vilarasau was at the helm of the bank between 1976 and 2003, first as general director and later as president.
An industrial engineer, he is credited with transforming the entity from a savings bank confined to Catalonia into an institution that broke the community’s borders and began creating a conglomerate with companies from other sectors.
