The National Court continues this Thursday with the hearing of the Kitchen case, the police corruption plot that was hatched during Mariano Rajoy’s government to spy on the former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas and try to stop the judicial progress of the Gürtel case, which investigated a corruption network linked to the Popular Party. The court has summoned as witnesses this Thursday the two notaries whom the former Secretary of State for the Interior Francisco Martínez approached when he recorded the messages exchanged with the former minister Jorge Fernández Díaz supposedly related to this parapolice operation for which both are accused.

It is also planned that the current director of the Madrid prison of Soto del Real and his predecessor will testify as witnesses on this sixth day of trial. The former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas was admitted to this penitentiary center when his provisional imprisonment was decreed in 2013 and later returned in 2018 to serve a sentence for the Gürtel case.

Earlier, about ten police officers will testify. Several of them have already admitted, as several of their colleagues did this Wednesday, that they participated in the surveillance of the Bárcenas family.
