The spokesperson for Más Madrid (MM) in the Madrid Assembly, Manuela Bergerot, and her Podemos counterpart, Isa Serra, have asked Isabel Díaz Ayuso to condemn the “racist” shouts of “monkey, monkey” and “out with the monkey” that were heard on Saturday during Carlos Baute’s performance in Puerta del Sol, while waiting for opposition leader María Corina Machado. Bergerot and Serra have expressed their “repulsion” towards these “racist” chants, directed at Venezuela’s current acting president, Delcy Rodríguez.
The shouts occurred almost an hour before the Venezuelan opposition leader appeared on the balcony of the Community of Madrid headquarters. During the wait, Venezuelan singer Carlos Baute, who performed some songs, encouraged attendees and urged them to reproduce an “intolerable” shout, Bergerot insisted. “These are intolerable chants at an official event of the Community. She demanded that Ayuso condemn these acts because they not only degrade racialized people but also any democrat,” Bergerot told the media this Sunday during an event in support of public education.

According to the Government Delegation, about 11,000 people crowded Puerta del Sol in Madrid yesterday to listen to opposition leader María Corina Machado. However, before the meeting, Díaz Ayuso, accompanied by her cabinet, presented the CAM Gold Medal inside the Correos building.
