Mediaset España has just announced this Wednesday that it is starting to prepare a new program that will include El Rosco as the main and final element, after having acquired the rights to this successful word-guessing test, which has been broadcast jointly with the contest Pasapalabra.
The test and the television contest where it is broadcast have been the subject of a legal dispute for years between Mediaset (Telecinco), Atresmedia (Antena 3), as well as the Dutch company MC&F and the British production company ITV. The Supreme Court forced Antena 3 to stop broadcasting El Rosco in a ruling on May 21, considering it to be a work protected by intellectual property whose ownership belongs to MC&F.
Shortly after, it was learned that Mediaset had reached an agreement with this company to acquire the rights to El Rosco, subject to the Supreme Court resolving the dispute in the finally confirmed terms, as it has. While studying its next steps, Antena 3 has continued broadcasting Pasapalabra with this successful final test until receiving a final notification. Now, Mediaset has announced in a brief statement its commitment to a new program that includes El Rosco, after also having been fined for having broadcast Pasapalabra without authorization under a recent court ruling.
