Good and surprising personal news for Natalie Portman. The 44-year-old actress has announced in an interview that she is pregnant with what will be her third child. This will be the first with her current partner, French music producer Tanguy Destable, artistically known as Tepr.
Portman herself shared the news during a chat with Harper’s Bazaar magazine. “Tanguy and I are very excited,” said the Jerusalem-born actress. “I am very grateful. I know it is a privilege and a miracle.” The actress is experiencing her pregnancy in Paris, where she has been based for years. She also says she feels well and has “more energy” than she thought. After completing a couple of film projects, she now has free time, so she is practicing gymnastics and swimming to feel good physically, she says, and spending a lot of time with her two older children, “which is always the best.” She admits that during her first pregnancies she read “many books” and now she is trying to go with the flow. “You manage. In the end, we will make mistakes, no matter how hard we try to do it right,” she explains. “I feel the best thing is to be present and give love.”
The relationship between Portman and Tanguy, who creates music for films, video games, and fashion shows, has been known for about a year, when the French press revealed it, but both, in Portman’s usual style, have kept it discreet. By then, spring 2025, the Black Swan actress had divorced choreographer Benjamin Millepied, whom she met during the filming of that movie, directed by Darren Aronofsky, in 2010, when he trained her for her dance numbers and for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress. The couple married in August 2012 in California. By then they already had their first son, Aleph, who is now 14 years old. The second, Amalia, was born in February 2017 and has turned nine.
Portman and Millepied’s divorce was complicated. Already in summer 2023, reports about the dancer and choreographer’s infidelity, now 48 years old, were published. Finally, in March 2024, a representative of the actress informed People of the couple’s definitive separation, explaining that Portman herself had filed for divorce in July 2023, and that it was finalized in February in France, since the family lived there. In the same outlet, a person close to the actress said: “Initially, it was very hard for her, but her friends have been by her side and helped her get through the worst. Natalie is coming out of a really hard and painful year, but she has come out stronger on the other side and is finding joy in her family, friends, and work.”

As the actress, producer, and entrepreneur — among other projects, she owns a women’s soccer team, Angel City FC, based in Los Angeles — explains in Harper’s Bazaar, she is the daughter of a fertility specialist and therefore “very aware of the challenges and pain that can accompany the process of trying to conceive,” the magazine reports. She herself states in comments to the same magazine that she grew up “hearing how difficult it is to get pregnant.” “There are so many people I love who have had a very hard time with this that I want to be respectful about it. It’s such a beautiful and joyful thing, but it’s not easy either,” she explains. “That’s why I know how lucky I am. I am very aware of it and very grateful. I feel a deep appreciation and gratitude.”
She also told the magazine that this will “probably” be her last child. “There is a gratitude that, when you are young, you don’t always come to understand,” she reflects on the process of getting pregnant. “And there is a serenity and self-knowledge — knowing who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me — that make the experience very beautiful, day after day. And, knowing it’s probably the last time, I enjoy every moment.”
