The false sense of security during this Wednesday’s solar eclipse is one of the aspects that most worries experts since during this type of phenomenon the Sun does not dazzle as on a normal day and the radiation can damage the retina in the same way. And if we are going to watch the eclipse with children? Well, to all the safety recommendations are added some specific ones for minors, as explained in this video by Julio Álvarez, Head of Pediatrics at the General Hospital of Valencia. Álvarez recommends explaining well to children what is going to happen, proposing games, and avoiding exposure. “There is no safe minimum exposure time. You cannot look at the sun without glasses,” warns the pediatrician, who emphasizes that radiation can cause retinal injuries that cannot be treated.
