A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for a continuous sexual assault crime after admitting that he raped his partner’s 10-year-old daughter, whom he impregnated. The second section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands held the trial against V. M. M. B. this Wednesday, who has been in provisional detention since October 2024. The prosecution initially requested a 15-year prison sentence, which was finally reduced to 13 years after the defendant reached an agreement with the public prosecutor’s office and admitted the facts.

V. M. M. B. admitted that he lived with his partner in an apartment in Palma, which they shared with the woman’s daughter, a 10-year-old girl who suffers from a learning disorder and borderline intellectual functioning. During 2024, on unspecified dates, the convicted man acknowledged that he raped the girl taking advantage of her young age, the condition she suffered from, and the fact that the minor had absolute trust in him because he was responsible for taking care of her. The sexual assaults occurred at home when the minor’s mother had gone to work and no one else was in the house.
As a result of the events, which the minor opposed by screaming and crying, the girl became pregnant. The minor had to go to the hospital due to severe pain, where they discovered she was pregnant and suffering from a rare complication in the pregnancy, making it unviable to reach term. The girl had to undergo a surgical procedure that took 32 days to heal and also required pharmacological treatment.

The man has admitted the entire account of the prosecution’s facts and will have to compensate the minor with 20,000 euros as civil liability. The agreement with the prosecution includes the obligation to participate in sexual education courses, as well as the prohibition to approach or communicate with the victim for a period of 15 years. The minor is currently in foster care by the child services of the Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs.
