The Coordinator of Teachers’ Assemblies of the Valencian Country (CADPV) has reported that so far 13 administrative sanctions have been notified due to the mobilizations for the recent strike in defense of Valencian public education, 11 to teachers and two others to one of the calling unions, for a total amount of 8,000 euros.

The Coordinator, which has criticized “the repression” suffered by the teachers who participated in these mobilizations against “the continuous attacks and policies promoted by the Ministry of Education and the Valencian Government,” has pointed out that all of these fines “are set in the context of the strike: in previously convened gatherings or in informational pickets.”
Faced with this situation, it has expressed its full support to all sanctioned persons and has informed that the calling unions have made their legal services available to them as “a necessary show of solidarity and accompaniment.”
In this regard, the entity has regretted that “these are sanctions for having publicly and peacefully exercised our rights of assembly, demonstration, and strike.” And it has lamented that “while those who protest are sanctioned, the Generalitat has expanded mechanisms of surveillance, control, and censorship.”
Thus, it has pointed out that “through a reform, introduced in the accompanying law of the Generalitat’s budgets, which modifies Decree 80/2017, it wants to control what can be opined, talked about, and debated in classrooms.”

For this reason, it has announced that “they will continue raising funds through the resistance fund, with the aim of being able to face the economic consequences of these sanctions in case the appeals presented do not succeed and they finally have to be paid.”
Finally, it has reminded that any teacher who receives a sanction for these mobilizations “can contact the Coordinator or the union organizations that have stood by the teachers during this strike, to receive legal advice and collective support.”
“We ask that no one face individually a sanction derived from a struggle that we have built together,” it has emphasized, and in this sense it has underlined: “before making any decision about payment or the sanction it is essential to contact the corresponding legal services and follow their instructions.”
