The first cycle of childhood

When society and those who govern understand the importance of early childhood in the development of individuals, we will begin to stop calling it a “daycare” and to educate children between zero and three years old from a preventive approach. Because in this unknown cycle, we compensate for inequalities, promote inclusion, and attend to diversity, with or without resources, but we do it with love, we establish healthy attachment bonds, we help in the formation of self-concept, we name their first emotions and help them manage them consciously. Likewise, how can a child learn something if they don’t know how to say what’s happening to them, or what to do with what they feel? Well, that’s how we are as a society, thinking that teenagers are to blame for everything, but we don’t consider that this starts earlier, it starts right there between zero and three, when no limits are set, when they are not listened to, or when we are called a daycare.

Fire

I thought a ceasefire was a cessation of hostilities. Well, no. In some cases —always the same— the bombings continue. And nothing has happened here.

Without a future

I am 27 years old, with a partner for eight years. We would like to get married and start a family, but the reality is that we can’t even become independent, victims of job insecurity and the housing crisis. But time passes, bodies mature, and we realize that the window is slowly closing. And suddenly someone close, a cousin, gives you the happy news that he’s going to be a dad, that he’s made a down payment on an apartment, and you don’t quite know how to feel. In my case, I’m happy for their achievements as if they were my own, but it hurts that they’re not. Envy is there, reminding me that they are achieving the goals I want to reach. And it’s not pretty, but it’s the reality for many people of my generation. We live trying to survive the present while dreaming of a future that never arrives.

Echo Chamber

When I was a child, I liked the group rain game. It consists of each person repeatedly tapping one finger of their left hand on the palm of their right, then two fingers, and then three, while increasing the frequency of the taps. When dozens of people do it, the acoustic result is similar to the sound of rain that starts light and gradually intensifies. This school game illustrates a current phenomenon. Millions of people repeat (in conversations, messages, or networks) the oral emanations (whether nonsense, bravado, or provocations) of a certain public figure X. In this way, the community becomes a gigantic echo chamber. I invite everyone to reflect on whether or not they wish to contribute to the spread of an inappropriate message. Those who do not wish to, should refrain from repeating it. Let’s stop making rain in service of what does not deserve to be amplified.
