The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office considers that Francis Puig had received, together with his partner and through a network of companies, more than 100,000 euros from the Valencian and Catalan governments between 2015 and 2019 for the promotion of Valencian in the media. The public prosecutor attributed to the defendant a crime of continuous documentary falsification in concurrence with another of aggravated fraud.

The Valencia Court has dismissed the defense briefs submitted by the brother of the former socialist president and his partner, Joan Enric Adell. It has also ruled out that the defendants were left defenseless by the fact that, during the investigation, a new crime, fraud, was imputed to them.

The case began in 2019 following a complaint filed by the PP against Francis Puig and the then director general of Linguistic Policy of the Generalitat Rubén Trenzano. The conservatives later extended the complaint to Puig’s partner.

In 2025, the judge who investigated the case, Jorge Martínez Ribera, husband of the judge from Catarroja investigating the 2024 flood, Nuria Ruiz Tobarra, prosecuted the defendants understanding that Francis Puig and his partner committed the alleged crimes of aggravated fraud and documentary falsification, and ruled out subsidy fraud, since the amount embezzled did not exceed 120,000 euros, which was the criminal type in force at that time.

The defendants allegedly used the companies Comunicacions dels Ports S. A. – a firm created in 1998 and dedicated to the management of local televisions -, Mas Mut Produccions S. L. (managed by Francis Puig) and Canal Maestrat S.L. (linked to Adell Bover).
