The virtual and mobile office of the Govern handles 5,000 requests in four months

The Virtual Office and the Citizen Service Offices (OAC) deployed by the Government have processed almost 5,000 requests so far, according to the report by the Department of the Presidency. The virtual service, which started operating in October, has handled 3,500 information requests via video calls, and the mobile vans, which have been traveling across the territory since April and have brought the service to 200 small municipalities, another 1,200. Most of these requests are related to the registration of couples and common-law partnerships (2,003) and about a thousand, from different perspectives, with issues related to disability and dependency.

The two new information channels are part of the Generalitat’s plan to bring the Administration closer to citizens and make it accessible also to those who cannot travel to a territorial service. “We want to make the citizen’s relationship with the Administration less difficult. We have already eliminated the mandatory prior appointment, which was a barrier,” recalled the Minister of the Presidency, Albert Dalmau, during the presentation of the report, pointing out that they have worked in three directions. The plan includes opening more offices across the territory, such as in La Seu, Tremp, or Puigcerdà; promoting video calls; and finally, deploying five vans that travel the territory to provide door-to-door service once a month.

The Virtual Office, which processes up to 160 different procedures, offers 180 appointments each week, preceded by a preliminary interview. The service is managed by seven specialized officials. After requests for information about common-law couples, follow recognition and review of the degree of disability (579), dependency (375), generic requests (150), or thermal social vouchers (145). The five vans adapted as mobile offices have primarily addressed cases related to digital certificates (348) and dependency cases (134). The Government is now analyzing whether to expand the service, highlighting user satisfaction, which rates it 4.93 out of 5.
