UEFA, the governing body of European football, says it is preparing a criminal complaint against Gianni Infantino over the failed project promoted by the FIFA president to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors, according to a report published by Financial Times.

According to a filing submitted to a US court, UEFA, led by Aleksander Čeferin, is seeking to obtain documentation from the investment firm of Joshua Kushner, who was set to lead the operation designed by Infantino to sell a stake in FIFA’s commercial rights linked to the World Cup.
The European organization states that it is “preparing criminal actions in Switzerland against Infantino and, possibly, against other FIFA officials and advisors for alleged mismanagement.”
This legal move comes as UEFA tries to maintain pressure on Infantino to step down. The organization’s executives and the top officials of the European federations met in Monte Carlo to study the next steps in their confrontation with FIFA.

Last month, UEFA threatened to break its commercial and sporting ties with FIFA in response to Infantino’s attempt to sell 20% of the organization’s commercial rights in a deal valued at 4 billion dollars.
Although the Swiss leader eventually withdrew the plan after criticism from broad sectors of the football world and admitted that the initiative had been poorly managed, UEFA has maintained its offensive against the FIFA president with the aim of forcing his departure.
Joshua Kushner, CEO of the firm Thrive Capital, is the brother of Jared Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump and was an advisor to Donald Trump.
