Colombian President Gustavo Petro has stated that he does not give any value to the results of the first round in this Sunday’s presidential elections, or at least to those revealed by the Registraduría on election night. His candidate, Senator Iván Cepeda, was surprisingly relegated to second place, with 41% of the votes compared to 44% for the far-right Abelardo de la Espriella. The president’s arguments, linked to a tangled electoral system, bring part of the conversation to the specter of fraud that he has been raising for months.
