Aisha, the 30-year-old woman brutally attacked last February in the Madrid municipality of Sevilla la Nueva in her home by two men who then set her on fire, died this Friday in the hospital after being unable to recover from the injuries caused by the attack. The Civil Guard arrested three men in March for these acts. One of them was the victim’s husband. The investigation remains open, but it points to the man hiring two hitmen to kill his wife. The woman suffered severe burns on 50% of her body.
The assault occurred on February 2 when the woman was at home with her six-month-old baby. According to sources close to the case, two men entered her home and gave her a terrible beating. Then they doused her with a flammable liquid and set her on fire. Even so, she managed to call a relative to tell them what happened and ask for medical attention. An emergency team stabilized her and transferred her to a hospital. Over these months, the medical team has subjected the victim to numerous surgeries and treatments.
Neither the woman was included in the Viogen system for the protection of victims of gender-based violence nor did her husband have a criminal record for this crime. According to sources from the Government delegation, the accused, whom the investigation considers the “intellectual author” of the acts, is the father of the deceased woman’s three children.

— Delegation of the Gov. against Gender Violence (@DelGobVG) July 18, 2026
So far this year, 28 women have been murdered by their partners or ex-partners. Since the official statistics began in 2003, there have been 1,369 women. Of the women murdered that year at the hands of their partners or ex-partners, 20 were Spanish (71.4%) and 8 foreign (28.6%), while of the feminicides, 21 were Spanish (75%) and 7 (25%) of other nationalities.
Of the 28 aggressors, only nine had previous complaints for abuse (33.1%), meaning nine victims were registered in VioGén — the Ministry of the Interior’s system for protecting victims of gender-based violence — (several of them even had protection measures in place), but the mechanisms the State has to protect them failed and they were murdered.
By autonomous communities, eight of the women were murdered in Andalusia (28.6%), five in the Valencian Community (17.9%), two in Aragon (7.1%), two in the Canary Islands (7.1%), two in Madrid (7.1%), two in the Chartered Community of Navarre (7.1%), two in Catalonia (7.1%), one in Extremadura (3.6%), one in Galicia (3.6%), one in Castile and León (3.6%), one in Cantabria (3.6%), and one in Castile-La Mancha (3.6%)
